The Ringer collection is the first collaboration between Kettal and Michael Anastassiades, and was conceived as a minimalist approach to cafe dining furniture.
The title makes reference to the traditional game of horseshoes and is related to the gesture of the arm rest resting on top of the legs. Michael utilized Kettal's expertise in Kettal aluminum manufacturing to create a collection that is robust, yet easy to move and rearrange. The focus is on an armchair with a with an armrest and a unique back element. There is a slight widening in the opening of the armrest as a subtle invitation to subtle to occupy the seat, echoing the traditional Chinese chair. The challenge was to make the individual elements individual elements that make up the chair seem to be touching each other without as if they were in contact, without visible joints, but with structural support.
