Candeeiro de Mesa Shogun

The Shogun metal lamp was designed in 1986 by the Swiss architect Mario Botta, now on display at the Metropolitan Museum in New York, this lamp has become an icon. Shogun has surprising similarities with Mario Botta's architectural constructions: mastery of light, search for simplicity of forms in the balance between richness and sobriety. Shogun consists of a varnished metal base on which two adjustable diffusers in perforated steel sheet are articulated and the openwork structure creates beautiful shadow projections that we modulate at will by moving the diffusers. The Shogun lamp is not only illuminating, but also creates a real atmosphere through a magnificent play of shadow and light contrasts. Returning to the essential vocabulary of geometric shapes, the designer likes to reduce the curve and angle in their most formal simplicity.
