Eclisse, designed by Vico Magistretti in 1965, won the Compasso d'Oro Prize in 1967 and became an ambassador of Italian design worldwide. Eclisse is an avant-garde balance of form and function, design and utility. The basis of the concept is its functionality to adjust the light intensity through its internal rotating curtain that “eclipses” the light source. Indeed, with a fixed outer casing and a movable inner casing, the lamp can provide direct or diffused light.
A table lamp, can also be mounted on the wall.
Eclisse is part of the permanent collection of the most important design museums, among many the MoMa in New York and the Triennale Design Museum in Milan.
