Named after the epic poems of ancient times, the Epic Table for GUBI by GamFratesi is a sculptural piece of furniture inspired by Greek columns and Roman architecture. Originally crafted in Italy from travertine stone, the monolithic form emphasizes the materiality of the stone, the natural beauty of its veins and the vibrant texture of its unique patina – in which a new detail can be discovered with each use. The new table variant marks the first time that GamFratesi has worked with sheet steel, which is galvanized, lacquered and then treated with a series of hand finishing processes to create a unique surface expression for each table. The monolithic shape of the table is maintained, now with an industrial expression. The collection brings personality to private environments and an intriguing sense of weight and tactility to public spaces, where its resilient surfaces offer exceptional levels of durability. The varying heights and diameters within the Epic Table Collection mean that a single monochrome table can stand alone or be combined in dynamic groups of varying materials, heights and colors.
