The Ringer collection is the first collaboration between Kettal and Michael Anastassiades, and was conceived as a minimalist approach to cafe dining furniture.
The title references the traditional game of horseshoes and is related to the nodding armrest gesture over the legs. Michael used Kettal's expertise in Kettal aluminum manufacturing to create a collection that is sturdy yet easy to move and rearrange. The focus is on an armchair with a single arm and a back element. There is a slight flare in the armrest opening as a subtle invitation to occupy the seat, echoing the traditional Chinese chair. The challenge was to make the individual elements that make up the chair appear to be touching without as if they were in contact, without visible joints, but with structural support.
